Dave concluded 30 years police service in April 2019 having served as a police officer in the Metropolitan Police, Northamptonshire Police and with national police bodies.

Experience

Dave has considerable experience at a national strategic level at the Association of Chief Police Officers where he represented policing with Chief Officers, Government Departments, international businesses, charities and academics.

He is comfortable and able to work productively with people at all levels of an organisation. From 2016 – 2019 he developed and led peer reviews of police forces for the College of Policing, providing coaching and organisational development support. Working to the Chief Constable, this drew together his passions for coaching and organisational culture in helping individuals and police forces better understand themselves and improve their performance.

Expertise

Dave has been a practicing coach since 2014. He is experienced in working with individuals and teams as well as wider organisational change. His keen interest in systems thinking and organisational culture (how the influences on behaviour within an organisation are broader than the written strategies and policies) enable him to take clients to deeper levels of personal self-awareness, understanding of their organisation and of themselves within their organisation.

Coaching style

Dave passionately believes in the potential within everyone to succeed and his style reflects this. Dave’ s eclectic approach enables him to draw from a wide range of coaching techniques and models, so his approach always supports the client in their personal context. His practice is a warm, empathic style that is tailor made to meet each, individual’s specific needs.

A strength of Dave’s coaching is his ability to listen to what the client says (and doesn’t say). This allows him to effectively challenge, so that they gain a deep self-awareness and the confidence to improve.
